If I go away for 3 or 4 weeks,how will this affect my updates? Will it be completely updated when I turn my p.c. back on ?,
if you mean virus signatures… yes
the program have full controll of what it need. 
Yes but it may take a little longer than the day to day updates since a catch up (larger) update will be required.
