Update stuck on "saving packages"

Hi all,

I’m trying to update Avast Internet Security from version 2015.10.2.2218 to 2015.10.3.2262, however it keeps freezing on the part that says “Saving package, this may take a while…” I assumed it just needed ample time, but this does not seem to be the case considering I even left it updating overnight and it was still stuck on “saving package” the next morning. Any ideas/suggestions? Please let me know if any more info is needed to help diagnose the issue.

  1. Download Avast Internet Security: https://files.avast.com/iavs9x/avast_internet_security_setup.exe
  2. Follow instructions: https://www.avast.com/uninstall-utility (Run this tool for all prior installed Avast versions…!!)
  3. Reinstall Avast with the downloaded installer from point 1.
  4. Reboot.
