Update through SUI produces error...

Hi all,

When I open the SUI, and press the ‘update’ button, it produces an error (pic attached)
Clicking the button, changes the screen:
-3/4 screen is black, with other 1/4 blue
-The update summary is shown (and a window to take you back), with the windows looking like the ‘classic’ theme

I am thinking this is a UAC issue, because when I run ashSimpl.exe as admin, it doesn’t happen. Is this right?
I have no problem with this really, because I don’t use this method to update if I do - I use the tray icon option.

I was just wondering if this is an issue for avast!..

Thanks,

-Scott-

Well this works for me in XP Pro (so no UAC). So you may be right on the UAC thing as the SUI runs under the User rights. Though if that was correct I would have expected the UAC pop-up to appear rather than an error message.

Well, updating though the tray icon does invoke the UAC, which was partly why I came to that conclusion. I just thought the error was weird, and thought I’d report it…

Certainly weird that it would have two different actions.

I just tried it again and expanded the details at the bottom of the alert I posted and it says this:

This problem happens because of partial incompatability with windows. Please contact the program or device manufacturer(s) for more information

Definately weird ???

Second image is what appears when I clicked: ‘Why does this happen?’

Which version of avast are you using?
Never got this message before…

I’m using 4.8.1351 Home, I guess this is odd, otherwise others would be asking also…
I wonder what is different with my system then…
