update trouble

i have been a user of avast for many years, the best, never a problem. just recently when i try to update my virus definitions. the download attempts and then i get an error message that there is ‘not enough storage space for the updates’ never received this message, plenty of room on my drive, but i don’t think it means that ?? is it the virus chest?? that doesn’t make sense either. no answer in the help file. Any Suggestions?? would be greatly appreciated

  • Which avast!..?? (Free/Pro/IS/Premier)
  • Which version…??
  • OS…?? (32/64 Bit…? - which SP…?)
  • Other security related software installed…??
  • Which AV(s) did you use before avast!..??
Post a screenshot of that error message. It would be helpful

i have not used another antivirus for years, ever since it took me weeks to uninstall all Norton invasives’ 7yrs ago.

i have plenty of room on my drive, i’ve run CCleaner, never saw this before

“Last encountered error: Not enough storage is available to process this command.”

Pls first run http://files.avast.com/iavs9x/avastclear.exe then reboot the pc in normal mode and run cclaner>Registry.and look for leftover files of avast!

  1. Download Avast from http://files.avast.com/iavs9x/avast_free_antivirus_setup.exe
  2. Follow instructions: https://www.avast.com/uninstall-utility (Run this tool for all prior installed Avast versions…!!)
  3. Reinstall Avast with the downloaded installer from point 1.
  4. Reboot.
Note: You running very old avast!.Support was ended.

Hi noteecee. Before you do the steps mentioned by Be Secure, I see that you had norton installed. First uninstall Avast and use the avast uninstaller utility. Run that tool in normal mode and the tool will ask that it will run your computer in safe mode automatically and click yes and follow the instructions. After that download Norton removal tool from here https://support.norton.com/sp/en/nz/home/current/solutions/kb20080710133834EN_EndUserProfile_en_us and run your computer in safe mode manually and run the norton removall tool.

After that install a fresh clean install of avast and follow the instructions. Upon installation and after it has done a quick start up scan, please reboot your computer manually.

Thanks@Staticguy.I missed the norton part to write down:)

Ur welcome Be Secure
