Unable to connect, check for updates for 4.8.1187. Server down?

What is the full error text as I doubt it that is said server down ?

I have just don a manual update and there was no problem connecting.

Is this the first update after installing the beta build ?

What is your firewall ?
Does it allow avast.setup internet access ?

  • If it does delete the entry for it and do a manual update, this will force the firewall to ask permission again.

If you can manually update, maybe that was just a temporary problem of connection.

I’m having a problem, too. The pop-up says Connection terminated, retrying… but after 8 minutes there is no activity. The warning log shows several different errors:

Disabling the firewall doesn’t help. I’m gonna try a repair of Avast next.

A repair didn’t solve anything, but if I disable self-defense and manually update it tells me I’m already up to date with VPS 80504-0, but I think 80505-0 is the latest. The forum loads fine, but Avast Support Center just times out. (http://support.avast.com/index.php?languageid=1&group=eng)
