Updated Avast, Cant turn on shields, or connect account.

I updated avast and now i cant turn on any of the shields, when i try to start them or click resolve all, nothing happens. I’ve tried re installing it and clearing anything left through the avast cleaner twice now with the same outcome. When i try to scan the computer, i get the message, “unable to start scan, there are no more endpoints available from the endpoint mapper”
When i go to settings it says account status: Not connected, when i try to connect, it says “You must be connected to the internet to view this content” I am connected to the internet however, because I’ve loaded other web pages.
current version is 2014.9.0.2008
When i try to update the virus definition or program through avast, it says “Failed to update, the AVAST service is not running”
When i check my registration it says i am registered, but gives me the option to register, when i click register and fill out the information, and hit register, i get the error “The AAVM subsytem detected a RPC error”
running free version, on windows XP.
I’m all out of ideas,

d try a clean install with the online installer, it’s fixed alot of issues with people…

  1. Download Avastclear, Rejzors uninstall tool and the appropriate Avast program edition

Note : You need to be ONLINE during the install (sometimes online installer works whereas offline doesn’t)

  1. Uninstall Avast by control panel [If you don’t have Avast in control Panel go to #4]
  2. Uninstall in safe mode using Avastclear.
  3. Run Rejzors Uninstall Utility in Normal Mode (removes traces avastclear doesn’t) - reboot.
  4. Install the version you downloaded.
  5. Reboot.

Thank you for a quick response and for the links. I’m in the process of reinstalling Avast now. I’ll post again once completed.

After following all of the steps, I’ve downloaded Avast and i have all of the same issues. Any other options?

Now that is odd… did you use the online installer I linked above (important)? It’s different to the normal one…

yes, i used three of the link you posted. Should i try them again or is there any other approach? I normally can figure these things myself but after 2 hours of troubleshooting i decided i should ask for help.

Which Avast version (free etc?) and now just run the removal tools. Remove avast from the PC… first Avastclear in safe mode then uninstall utility in normal mode. Reboot between both and let me know when Avast is completely removed.

For a clean install…

Download and save aswclear
Download and save your choice…

Run uninstaller from above. You will be directed to reboot into safe mode, do so (this is done automatically by clicking “yes”).
Reboot
Install choice from above.
Reboot and register.
