Updated program won't update iAVS

Since the latest update a few days ago, I keep getting the same error that the program can’t update. I am, using the home edition on Windows XP.

My log reads:

should I reinstall the entire program?

Try a repair of avast. Add Remove programs, select ‘avast! Anti-Virus,’ click the Change/Remove button and scroll down to Repair, click next and follow. You need to be on-line to do this.

Thanks for that suggestion. It gave me this error message:
‘Avast! A setiface error has occurred 2.
Try to reinstall or contact support.’

So I’ll try to reinstall and will let you know what happens.!

I suggest an installation from the scratch:

  1. Uninstall avast from Control Panel first.
  2. Boot.
  3. Use Avast Uninstall for complete uninstallation.
  4. Boot.
  5. Install again the last version.
  6. Boot.
  7. Check and post the results.

Trouble is, I can’t uninstall from the control panel as it freezes, so will try from Avast uninstall first.

Do you have any other antivirus program in this computer? Had in the past?

Way, way back in the distant past! :slight_smile: Panda - but ditched that as it gave too many problems. Always liked Avast and kept coming back to it.
Trying reinstall but have to download the program again…

more later.

right - all seems ok so far - has reinstalled and updated fine. Must have just got scrungled somehow. Will keep an eye on things and report if there is any more trouble.
