What a shock. Renewed my sub, cleaned out trash, fast computer, but safezone browser encountered a problem and therefor had to close. How depressed am I. I like AVAST because of safezone. I need easy and this is not easy. I regret having renewed.

Try a repair and then reboot your PC. Happened to me once and that fixed it.
Don’t know how to repair. When restarting computer, I got blue screen. Very frightening. I like my antivirus to be easy and not cause blue screens. and on the day I renewed it.

I use XP prof, and have regular clear outs to get rid of temp files etc. Engineer passed test this morning. all functioned but we didn’t test AVAST.
With busy life etc, this has been too much.
I uninstalled and reinstalled and it still doesn’t work. As for the tech support, that did not respond. Sorry, AVAST. You’re clearly not for me.
I still don’t see how this is attributable to the avast SafeZone as you mention a BSOD on restarting, as far as I’m aware the safezone isn’t running until you initiate it.
Repair of avast:
XP - Add Remove programs, select ‘avast! Anti-Virus,’ click the Change/Remove button and select Repair, click next and follow.
You should reboot after the repair.

Bless you but a brand new installation should have resolved this too. The app for safezone browser didn’t end when logging off so there is still a conflict. I restarted at all the right moments. Had tech support responded, I’d have stayed but even emergency did not result in a response. You need support at times like this: when the normal effrots fail.

I didn’t pay for a beta version. Those should be free. Did repair. No joy.
Well that is your choice, but surely you would want to see if the problem whatever it was is resolved in the beta build rather than wait for the regular release.
What avast version? Pro or Internet Security?
What thrash did you cleaned out?

Temp files, cookies etc. Engineer who does a yearly MOT did it manually, instead of using a cleaner. It doesn’t usually affect things adversely. Computer works faster. Aside from explorer that has old issues, there hasn’t been a problem with the computer until I noticed that safezone had gone and having clicked on the browser, saw the error message, closed it and found the app was crashing the computer at log off.
I’ve already alluded to the message several times. It’s encountered a problem and needed to close and it was related to the app for the browser. Reinstallation did not resolve the issue. Neither did repair. Rest of AVAST seems to work. It’s the latest version of pro. I’ll miss it.
A reinstall wouldn’t fix it is it was a problem with the webrep (browser plug-in).

It might and it might not. To pay for a beta, an unknown is not appropriate. There was no tech support response to my ticket, which is unsatisfactory. I expected a response within 12 hours. I’m not going to fiddle anymore with this. I see old AVAST programm under programs in XP, so now installed old programme that worked. Even this now doesn’t work re safezone. Lovely.
You don’t have to pay for the beta.
OK. I noted that someone else had this problem. The thread was closed and there was no solution.
I did not find that the specialist uninstaller did the job. I have two lots of AVAST folders in program files. Do NB that I use explorer. Don’t need anything to do with chrome, firefox etc.
the fact that no one responded to my ticket and left me with a blue screen was another reason for my disappointment with aVAST. I appreicate your input but a technician might have resolved it.
