updateing (VRDB) help

Hi,

When I open Avast the only thing that is not up to date is: "Virus recovery database(VRDB) 17/09/2009.

I have been clicking right on the little Blue ball with the (i) on it and then clicking on “Generate VRDB Now”. Is this correct and if
not could someone tell me the correct way of doing it. Thank you.

Hi lilydiane2,

More info on the subject: What is VRDB?

However, the VRDB’s uses are limited, and the technoligy is becoming redundant now. Hence it is being dropped from the next version of avast! (version 5)

I have simply disabled it on my machine…

Thanks so much for the quick rely. So what your telling me is, that if I disable it…it will not affect my security. Please answer. Thank you

Well, I don’t think your (or my ;)) security is lessened, by the disabling of the VRDB, and as it is being dropped for the next version, I wouldn’t worry.
The main avast! engine is what keeps you safe

It is however, your decision. I cannot make your mind up about it and you may wish to keep it running if you feel so inclined to…

:)thank you so very much.

You are very welcome
