Updates and Controle Parental (Orange) in France

Hi.

I’m juste notice that Orange (biggest ISP in France) is giving his clients a Controle Parental program, which is based on Optenet. This program is used to forbid childs to have access to adult content.

With the last version of Controle Parental installed, the update are impossible : corrupted package. I checked with disabling Controle Parental : it goes OK.

So I check configuration of Controle Parental and it authorize the adding of antivirus update URL : basically, url that will not be filtered.

The issue is the * joker cannot be used as subdomain, and Avast is using random URL to download pakages : I added download40.avast.com, then download62.avast.com, download12.avast.com… Each time it seems to try another subdomain.

So the question is : is there a way to tell Avast which URL to use for downloading update, or having a list of url used for this purpose ?

I wanted to let you this issue, because Orange is a major ISP here, and a lot of people is installing Controle Parental. While a lot of people is using Avast, i’m afraid that this problem will cause users to uninstall Avast in order to get a working antivirus with automatic updating tool.

Regards
Simon

Naomi Parental Control software (freeware) http://www.radiance.m6.net/ works with avast.

Also will it not work if you simply put in the avast.com domain, would it not allow the sub-domains ?
You can check the C:\Program Files\Alwil Software\Avast4\Setup\servers.def file using a text editor, this lists the servers that avast uses to spread the load (but that is subject to change), currently there are 72 servers download1.avast.com to download71.avast.com

It works with the joker : .avast.com/ and after rebooting. Thank you.

Your welcome, thanks for the feed back.
