Hi All. I am new to the forum and new to AVAST! I am having a problem with updates, hope someone can help. I have run manual updates shortly after download and installation of Avast, and they seem to complete properly and install properly (I am updated to 0532-0), but the simple user interface still says that my virus database is 0511-1. ???
If I try to re-update the message says I already have the most current update. So is the interface wrong? Which update do I actually have? And is there a way to refresh the interface?
Sometimes things get out of synch so I suggest you try a repair of avast. Add Remove programs, avast! Anti-Virus, Change/Remove button and scroll down to Repair, click next and follow. You need to be on-line to do this.
David, you’re scaring me ;D
I never have this kind of problem… the interface (skin) is always synchronized with the About dialog.
Anyway, your suggestion should work 8)
Bucky, welcome
I’m having the same problem looking at the logs under notice. Although all previous updates have been recorded, todays update, 8/8, which was made, was not recorded.
Bucky’s problem is not log related but a difference in the about avast! and what is displayed in the Simple User Interface (not the avast! Log Viewer), is this exactly the same for you?
Try the repair as suggested for Bucky if so.
You have to have the Program Settings, Logging, slider settings for the Log set to Log Notices (mine is set to Warning or above) so aren’t recorded.
What is your Logging setting set at (just in case they have changed)?
I am the only user and am listed as the administrator control panel/users.
I did a repair using add/remove programs, repair - and all I could see that it did was to check VP to make sure it was up to date - which it was.
Either the repair function isn’t working, or I can’t see what it did.
I did not install any AV or firewall or anything like that in the last day. I did install the software for a new UPS, but I don’t know where that would fit in.
Repair check the installation and replace corrupted/deleted files, also update avast! to the last version.
For me, Central Security and About tell me that I have 0532-2.
Where are you reading 0511-1 version? Can you post a screenshot?
You don’t really need to know what it has done, rather check and see if the problems was resolved?
You still haven’t confirmed that your problem is exactly the same as Bucky’s and not just a log viewer issue (as I asked previously)?

As Tech said where is it that your are seeing a disparity between the VPS version?
