I have a little problems, we have a linux server red hat enterprise 5, our firewall is iptables this work o.k, the question is while the service iptables is down my updates work, on the script of iptables i add the server direction of avast updates…I don´t know what I do…
Please I need your help.

this needs to go in the linux section where linux experts will see it
this is common linux/mac section :).
the updates are taken from port 80, but the target ip varies (just do dig files.avast.com). thus, at least, there must be the possibility to open tcp connection to port 80 to these machines. avast’s update uses the same mechanism as any http-get app (the update script might use internally wget too).
