The alarm will ring when someone tries to log off or shut down your laptop to take it with him and it’s FREE ;D this program not the laptop someone is trying to steal ??? ::slight_smile:

From Bits From Bill http://billpstudios.blogspot.com/2007/08/winpatrol-2007-version-12.html
I am very pleased with the feedback I’ve received from everyone who helped test the newest version of WinPatrol. The new version is officially available today.
Everyone seems to really like our new Scotty icon. The last time I tried to change the main icon there was a rebellion of sorts. All our Vista users are glad that Scotty has his voice back.
I’ve had the most feedback about the new HijackPatrol log which is now available on the Options tab. This new informational feature isn’t intended to replace any other program but provides WinPatrol information in a familiar format. Based on the feedback from testers I’ve included additional information in our log like File Type Associations and Hidden file locations.
All the new reports are available to both Free and Plus users although access to PLUS information has been improved and is available with a single click. Version 12 carries on our goal of helping everyone answer the question, “What the heck is running on my computer, where did it come from and what is it doing?”

What’s New
New Scotty Icon
Two New Report Options
+++HijackPatrol Log+++ :wink:
SpreadSheet Log
Easy Access to PLUS Info
PLUS Requests updated for future expansion

Bug Fixes:
Fix size bug in autodetection of Explorer/Run/Policy autostart entry
Auto correct screen position errors on multiple monitor systems when registry has been corrupted.
Local flag sent for any country code and not just ones currently supported
Secret Startup location checkbox now available immediately after entering PLUS name/code.
Found solution to why Scotty’s bark was silent in Vista.
Fixed bug reading large HOST, WinPatrol History and Netscape Cookie files

http://robotgenius.net/technology/rgguard.jsp
Robot Genius today announced the availability of its new anti-malware download/plug-in, RGguard. RGguard is a web browser plug-in that protects users from all types of malware including spyware, adware, rootkits and other malicious programs on the web. RGguard knows not just the domain, but also the full path URL that points to each instance of malware. The exactness of the alerts reduces false positives keeping restricted sites to a minimum, and also keeps ‘noisy’ security alerts to a minimum.
Key Benefits

  • Lightweight and unobtrusive, works with all browsers. * Zero-day threat protection against all types of malware.
  • A powerful, fully automated method for blocking links to malware and warning users of URLs containing malicious executables.
  • Virtually no impact on system performance or system resources.
  • Exactness of alerts reduces false positives keeping restricted sites to a minimum, and also keeps ‘noisy’ security alerts to a minimum.

I have to say when I see this kind of generalisation in marketing blurb my tongue moves firmly against my cheek.

There is absolutely no way ‘any’ product can give this king of assurance, “protects users from all types of malware.”

This also makes me wince “RGguard knows not just the domain, but also the full path URL that points to each instance of malware.” This is patently rubbish how can they possibly have the URL for every possibly piece of malware.

I would also have doubts about the product when the grammar of the marketing hype is also flawed.

You also find that it doesn’t work with firefox despite their claim to work with all browsers, there they go again with that (works with or detects) all (or every) claim only to apply limitations (“Requirements: Internet Explorer 6.0 or higher; Mozilla Firefox 1.5 or higher”).

When I see marketing hype like this I wouldn’t give it the time of day much less publish it. Do a google search for this product and you will see it is basically the same marketing hype and you have been caught up in it by perpetuating it.

I bet they can’t believe all this free publicity for a product that has just been released.

Working quite well on my copy of Firefox David some other folk think its worth a go. From memory SiteAdvsor wasn’t all that well accepted?

I was just going on what Dan said "can’t get the plug-in to install for firefox " about not being able to get it working.

I can’t recall the SiteAdvisor launch but the Hype in this marketing blurb made me want to throw up. This all things to all men, detects everything, works with everything blurb is a huge turn off for me because it is plainly wrong.

I don’t have the firefox siteadvisor extension running on my system, as a dial-up user the bandwidth overhead isn’t acceptable to me.

No worries David ;D all the hoopla and hype these days is almost a part of life.
You only have to look at the pollies as an example. Now there’s real malware in parts that needs extreme detection  ;D

:)I installed it happily from FF browser and it works fine. When the URL is unknown (my shared files) it flags ??? for ever, still scanning, but who cares? Their webmaster should correct the downloading link as it says X IE (it downloads for FF if you’re in FF!).

Maybe this will help Dan… ;D

it works-i was clicking on the below part and got a fast response from their tech support already ;D
Hello-
By default the large button downloads the appropriate version (IE for IE, Mozilla for Mozilla). The small link below “click here for…” is only needed if you want the other version. Click the large button, and it should work.

                    thanks
                        -Jim

i was clicking on the small link below-duh!!!
like the program so far…

question…i have WOT,finjan and now rgGuard…and site advisor-do i need all this and or/which ones ??? 8)

just got a pm from polonus-super malware fighter ;D
and removing rgGuard from my firefox extensions after posting this :o

This is what the cat sent me, and you better pay attention:

Thanks! Too good to be true. Another of those unwanted application supposed to do good! :o

Is this the same program I don’t think so, Robot Genius seems to be (RGguard v1.0.10 which would coincide with a recently released program) where this report mentions - Registry Run Guard 2.6 which would appear to be a more mature program and it appears to do a different task to robot genius.

Don’t get me wrong because of the marketing hype for robot genius Iwouldn’t touch it with a long stick. However, I don’t think the CA report is about the same program since the report was published on, Date Published: Monday, August 16, 2004.

Date Published: Monday, August 16, 2004

not that same program-rgGuard was JUST released today.
going back on…
thanks davidr for noticing and damian for a-least caring about the matter in your pm to me

Got to keep your eyes open and your wits about you round here ;D

I might not particularly like their hype but I wouldn’t like an application to get hit with something unrelated to it.
