guess anything is better than the windows defrag
Although it might be a little slow, the windows defrag actually does a pretty good job. :)

Exactly… made by same people who created or at least, working on this OS. It may be slow, but in general there is absolutely nothing wrong with original disk defragmenter that comes with Windows. At least I am sure it will not screw up something like some third party defragmenters out there.

Hi David!
Yes it is strange indeed… and this is even more weird (take a look at the screenshot). I just tried to uninstall it to completely remove it from my system and this is what I got. False positive or something more ?

Yes avast has found a number of uninstall files as trojans and a good number have been FPs so I would check it out at virustotal and report if found to be an FP.
There have been a number of autoit scripts also detected incorrectly, so I think with this combination it is more likely that this may be an FP.

Unfortunately I wiped it out as soon as avast! popped out that message (after taking a screenshot). Didn’t want to take any chances, and I uninstalled this defragmenter through Windows Add/Remove programs.
Someone else will have to do it if he/she still has uninstaller… :-\

I’m afraid I didn’t use the installer I just downloaded the zip file with the stand alone files, so no add remove programs entry.

First off are we talking about JKDefrag here or JKDefragGUI guys ?
If you guys can find a FREEWARE program that does a better job at defraging and is more configurable than JKDefrag i’ll be glad to make the switch.
JKDefrag doesn’t have an installer/uninstaller however the GUI program by Emiel Wieldraaijer has.
So this FP detected is a part of the GUI’s uninstaller and NOT a part of JKDefrag. BTW this is not the only GUI program made for JKDefrag there are a couple of others as well. READ MORE HERE
Also the version of JKDefrag that comes with Emiel’s GUI is 3.16 i believe. The current is 3.23.
Did a scan on Virustotal of Emiel’s uninstaller, here are the results:

In my opinion a FP(like David said many AutoIT scripts are detected by avast! and others as trojans even though they are not) . Been using the GUI in the past for quite some time and i am 100% sure it is clean and without trojan’s …
Must admit i’ve been using the console version of JKDefrag ever since i switched to Vista though but i did use the same version as we are talking about(0.91) in XP and interstingly it was never picked up by avast! nor any other anti-malware product i use. Besides i think i would have noticed if i had a Trojan over here.
@DavidR: Here are the changelogs if you’re interested in why so many new versions:http://www.kessels.com/forum/viewforum.php?f=5&sid=c9d1010c686da6fd73d406116a4d1e20
Mostly bugfixes as you can see, Jeroen is the only developer of this great defrag program and he is busy as a bee it seems. As soon as he identifies a bug he fixes it ASAP and rolls out a new version of the program. In my opinion he is to be commended for responding so quickly to fixing new bugs not bashed for being FAST .
Spot on Darth_Mikey I only wish some of the Big Players in the Industry with more employees/developers/programmers etc at their disposal were as conscientious in maintenance/program improvement than just making a quick Buck$$
