Am I doing something wrong or is Foxit download above rolling out Ask toolbar
I don't know but it's more and more software bundling this crap toolbar + ask.com as home page. Opera, Comodo, and even the latest aerofox theme extension for Firefox. I saw a pop up about ask.com after installing the theme yesterday, dismissed, and got rid of the theme. Ask.com is just getting on my nerves. They're getting intrusive, just like the yahoo toolbar.

so don’t bother try other download link. I don’t need to view any PDFs

If you have FoxIt already installed as you like it why not try the in program update check, it should retain your existing setting I believe.

I always check for pre-checked option like the ask toolbar (which I positively hate) and uncheck the option.

No DavidR I uninstalled it - I can choose from back record on filehippo

I thought I unchecked everything

One last time filehippo link - got the Ask toolbar and Foxit toolbar (Ask)
go to firefox and check uncheck both links,

but Foxit now must come with Ask bundled in
see what firefox plugin in install run is -

Destination Location:
C:\Program Files\Foxit Software\Foxit Reader\

Desktop Settings:
Add a desktop shortcut
Add an icon to the Start Menu
Add an icon to Windows Quick Launch Toolbar

Custom Setting:

Install Firefox plugin

Edit - Firefox also loads program with Ask toolbar and Foxit toolbar (Ask)
Firefox plugin at install likely to be Foxit toolbar (Ask)

Mozilla add-ons site doesn’t have it yet. No big deal. Anyway they added an “site info” function (middle click on any site entry), wasn’t really needed, that refers to WOT etc…Flagfox already gave that

I am new to Foxit, been using Adobe Reader 9.1.3. Is it essential to install On Demand CM…which updates are important like JPEG, East Languages etc…& which are freeware & which ones are trial wares?

Thanks & Regards!

Hi, Yezinki. I’ve been using Foxit Reader for about a year, both stand-alone and as a plugin for Firefox. As far as I can tell, none of the Foxit Reader add-ons are critical: the only one I downloaded was the Firefox Plugin. The JPEG2000 and JavaScript support modules had critical vulnerabilities in the past and have been subsequently patched. I don’t recommend either of them unless you have a specific need, and even then they should be used only on trusted documents. (Actually, just to be safer, you should only view trusted PDF documents period.) Hope this helps.

I just couldn’t load the lastest Foxit Reader without the toolbars even use disable and uninstall components
but I didn’t try remove install firefox plugin from the install script. I found this though. (screenshot)

I’m a bit busy to try all the PDF viewers. Thanks for feedback.

@ Alan Baxter

Do you have yr original Foxit and are only changing by install of updates?

As far as I can tell, none of the Foxit Reader add-ons are critical: the only one I downloaded was the Firefox Plugin.

Foxit toolbar is a firefox plugin

You’re welcome.

(There’s no screenshot here. Did you mean the ones below?

I updated through Help > Check for Updates and did not wind up with a toolbar. If you can’t get Foxit Reader without the Foxit Toolbar. I’d look for a different program. To see if I could reproduce your problem, I downloaded the Foxit Reader installer, FoxitReader321_en_Setup.exe, and installed it into a sandbox. The installation program explicitly asks me if I want to install the Foxit Toolbar, with “I accept” pre-checked. I unchecked “I accept” and unchecked “Set my homepage to Ask.com” and continued with the installation. There’s no ability or need to refuse the Firefox Plugin. That’s something completely different from the Foxit Toolbar (see below).

As far as I can tell, none of the Foxit Reader add-ons are critical: the only one I downloaded was the Firefox Plugin.

Foxit toolbar is a firefox plugin

Actually, no. They’re two separate beasts.

Foxit Toolbar for browser This add-on is a free toolbar for IE that delivers up-to-date Foxit news and upgrades straight to your Internet browser, enabling users to search the web anytime anywhere, giving easy access to various useful goodies and gadgets. The toolbar integrated with Foxit Reader 3.2, with a helpful user interface, is better compatible with Windows 7 and Firefox.

Firefox Plugins
Foxit Firefox Plugin installs a simple Foxit Reader into the Firefox web browser, this free add-on allows users to display, view, edit and print PDF documents in the browser.

yes I went through procedure FoxitReader321_en_Setup.exe. Unchecked everything and still Ask toolbar ran with the package. ???
Like the advisory from Foxit says (sorry screenshots came later).

Its okay. i will look around but no time at the moment. have sumatra portable for the interim.

Hi, is this installation ok/correct?

Which Updates If any are necessary…like On Demand CM, PDF Creator…… FF plug-in I don’t need because I don’t use FF?? I don’t get any Foxit toolbar??
