Works good for me in IE 8 64bit on Windows 7 64bit.
Some days ago it was released the new Ubuntu 10.10 (Maverick Meerkat)

Only 10 for me (dropped the usual malicious software one) at 24.2MB, boy am I glad I’ve got broadband now (as slow as it is, still much quicker than dial-up).

Even with broadband my XP Pro system took over 1/2 hour to download then install then a reboot to be updated.
My Windows 7 system took less than 5 minutes. 8)
OK, I’ll bite – as shown in my sig, I’ve got XP Home SP3, and haven’t seen any way to de-select any of the top-priority updates when I can get MS Update to work properly (see next para.).
For whatever reason, I haven’t been able to get Update to work properly (using IE-8) for a number of months now, the scanning stage keeps going forever. I just do a search in Downloads for last-30-days releases and download & install the appropriate ones from the respective bulletins.
And I agree with David, don’t see any point in the MRT when any good layered protection should catch anything MRT would long before Patch Tuesday.

Well it rather depends on what your auto update settings are, for me previously being on dial-up I had it set to notify but not download.
Then when you get the notification, you click the Update Shield and you can view the various updates and uncheck those you don’t want to download right then. You will get a question about not showing those updates (that you unchecked) again, other wise when you do the Update these will still be outstanding and WU will prompt you again.
No if you elect to visit the windows update site rather than use the auto update function, you can select Custom update rather than a Default (which gives all important updates), this again allows you to select or rather deselect those that you don;t want to install right then. When you expand each update description if you deselect one of the updates, you will notice a box which can be checked not to show this again.
Mike, there are sites that describe how to “reset” Windows Update and start it again (folders, missing updates, etc.). Did you try googling?
