Your welcome

I see they have changed the procedure for updating Adobe® Flash Player for other browsers, now it is a small setup file that appears to install/finalise the installation on-line.

Are you talking about the link i supplied that does this or is that how its done now via the adobe web site ?

Yep, it’s new and the offered me Chrome, as well as some McAffee stuff. ::slight_smile:
After that, I did use another download source.

The link for IE did not offer me any advertising bollocks.

The link for FF enables you to untick the McAfee bollocks prior to download, too.

The FF component deletes the installation file once it is executed. I commend that!

I wonder if the non ie version is any different if installed from here http://www.filehippo.com/download_flashplayer_firefox/

Yes it is different as it used to be an off-line installation setup file like the one for IE (which remains an off-line setup file).

Updated by Secunia like a charm.

This link works too (go to Advanced Troubleshooting section) http://kb2.adobe.com/cps/191/tn_19166.html

There have been reports of overheating with the 280 drivers and people are being advised to wait for the next release before updating.

As far as graphics driver updates go, I have never updated any of mine. I feel the only reason you should contemplate it is that you are having problems with the existing one.

That can be true for many people. For gamers however, the prospect of squeezing out a few more frames per second is enticing.

This is from mmo-champion.com. It’s a site for people who play MMORPG’s , in particular World of Warcraft.

NVIDIA Drivers A quick note for those of you that keep your drivers up to date. There are some significant bugs in the 280.26 drivers that were recently released, including a bug that makes cards run warm. Avoid upgrading until a fixed driver is released.

Iv been on the nvidia forums and several others about this heating issue and it seems its a false alarm, the reason people are seeing heat changes are from previous drivers not reporting the correct temperatures where with the new drivers they are correct and also show temperatures on average about 4 degrees higher than previous, the new drivers 280.26 also cure’s the stuttering problem with several games and does seem to perform alot better on my system and more stable with browser hardware acceleration.

OT: Craigb are you saying it safe to install the latest Nvidia driver update v280.26 ???

Yes its safe, nvidia took the update down for a while ( a few hours ) to double check them but they are fine.
