The last version for Win98/ME users is 3.7 RC1 build 956 (June 7, 2011). The Flash module works properly with Firefox 3.6.20 and is much lighter than FlashGot. This version also integrates with Opera 10.52 and OGet for non-Flash downloads.

Chrome does not remove old updates to itself and have to removed manually.

Check in C:\Documents and Settings(Your ID)\Local Settings\Application Data\Google\Chrome\Application folder for older updates.
Mine had 92.4MB for the old 13.0.782.112 update.

It only keeps the most recent past version and deletes everything else. Probably a good practice if you ever would need to roll back versions.

I never see it when updating over the top of the older version. The only things I always have to uncheck are the recycle bin integration stuff which I don’t want.

No the toolbar has never been installed on this machine. I never see it when updating Speccy either.

You will not see it if you are upgrading it over the previous version.
