Java Downloads for All Operating Systems
Recommended Version 6 Update 29
http://java.com/en/download/manual.jsp

It is best to un-install old versions of Java first.

why not version 7 update 1?

Java version 1.7.0.1 here, http://www.filehippo.com/download_jre_32/

                       http://www.filehippo.com/download_jre_64/

Incompatible with OpenOffice.org and some other programs

OpenOffice works fine with JRE 7, im using it on win7 64 Desktop.

Well the Java Console plugin doesn’t work with firefox 7.0.1, not that I’m bothered about that too much, rare as rocking horse droppings if I use the JAVA console.

COMODO FIREWALL 5.8.211697.2124

http://www.comodo.com/home/download/download.php?prod=firewall

the release date is not updated…

OpenOffice does not detect JRE 7x, So functions that is depending on your JRE will not work (OpenOffice would open, but some like Databases will not work), That’s confirmed in their unofficial forum. (it started after Oracle/Sun stuff).

OpenOffice is dead anyway …
not only all the main developers left to Libre Office project (which btw. works perfectly fine with Java 7)
but Oracle now gave up and gave OpenOffice to Apache foundation …
