Windows Updates are live, I had five on Windows 7 X64.

I had 6, including the MRT and 2 for Office 2007. Only three for Win7 and one was not selected by default (KB2807986). I didn’t select it and then looked it up where it said it might not install on some systems and would then cause others to not install. MS recommended installing it only after all the others were done and the system rebooted. That’s what I did and all is well.

I can’t remember if that was unchecked, probably was as two of mine were unchecked - but since I checked the security bulletin “Vulnerabilities in Kernel-Mode Drivers Could Allow Elevation Of Privilege (2807986)” so I felt this should be checked.

The IE 10 update was also unchecked - I enabled the IE10 update, but it failed to install first time round and I have just reinstalled it, success this time round.

A hidden Patch Tuesday gem: A Windows 7 hotfix rollup

“Summary: Even though Microsoft supposedly is done releasing service packs for Windows 7 and Windows Server 2008 R2, the company is still doing hotfix rollups.”

This is suppose to decrease boot time plus other improvements.

I’m certain, you mean ESR.

HDW

I don’t think he does mean ESR as Thunderbird isn’t on the same release cycle, so 17.0.4 is the regular release, which I have on both my systems.

There is both a Thunderbird 17.0.4 ESR and Thunderbird 17.0.4 release channel. Oddly the ESR version posted to the servers first.

Hi Tech: Have you used this? Any problem? The version number indicates it is still in development. Thanks.

Why? It’s this way for a lot of years.
I did not test this version, but I haven’t faced ANY problem using all previous versions.

Software versions less than one (1.0) are normally incomplete in their current state. This is why I asked. But I think I can use this program and will give it a try. Thank you for replying.
