I actually solved it… But first re: DNS we already point to 8.8.8.8
So for anyone out there who has a problem. download and install avastclean.exe and here is the trick. Reboot to safe mode and run it.
However the tech I took over from had it saved on the C: drive. and so that you are aware you can’t run it from the C: drive in our case we had it in C:\Avast
You must copy it to the logged in users profile %USERPROFILE%\Desktop for example.
Then it will complete the removal.
Now when I re-installed it its working.
