Since april 27 i encounter problems when the program attempts to update. Usualy I check the Avast-homepage an download and install the update myself when the automatic-update doesn’t work.
Today however i encountered an error telling me the manual update is not installed, when I click on ok it tells me the new update is succecfully, little later confirmed by an automatic update from the avast-updater.
I use windows-XP pro and except for Avast there is no scanning soft ware or firewall installed or connected.

They will need to know do tou have SP1 or SP2 on your XP PRO machine
I’m running Microsoft Windows XP [Version 5.1.2600]
I think one of the last updates contained an upgrade of SP1 …

go to avast4\setup directory & copy file setiface.ovr to setiface.dll
That should help.

Where is the setup located…I also have Xp with 4.1…
Generally: C:\Program files\Alwil Software\Avast4\Setup\setiface.ovr
