Are you logged in as administrator when trying to update? (Not as user with admin rights, but administrator)
Do you have something like Process Guard running or another application that is trying to protect the system?
yup … Administrator Member and the only thing I had running like you suggested was Spybot S&D Resident. Tried again after disabling it and still the same thing.
This system has been running - and Avast along with it - just fine with the current setup for a very long time. Maybe I phrased it wrong but my login is an Admin Account.
But besides that … as I said up until three days ago Avast was updating just fine … and nothing has changed as far as accounts are concerned.

There haven't been any updates in the last few days. See the following thread for an explanation of Alwils policy on updating.

the user which runs the updater is mentioned on the 5th line of the log (you’ve erased the info, so you’re the only to check what user it is and to check if it has the needed rights).
The error code 0x3fb is indeed very strange, it means:
‘System could not allocate the required space in a registry log.’
The only mention in MSDN says: ‘One common cause of this error is that Windows is out of disk space on the system drive’
