All I want to know is: Do I need to update the Virus recovery database [VRDB] since someone told me it was going to be dropped in the new version. Your answer would be well appreciated. Thank you
It will be dropped in version 5 when released. It was designed a long time ago (mainly to protect system/executable files) when viruses weren’t as virulent as they are now. Some once they get established use compression and encryption in their infection to try and prevent repair.
So it would be your choice to disable it, I did so a few months ago, however, I have a robust back-up and recovery strategy in place so it isn’t such an issue for me.
