Updating Problem...maybe?

XP machine using Firefox.

I keep getting a pop-up box that says I need to update. The update starts and then says, ‘I’m already up to date’. Can I stop this faults pop-up from appearing and how?

You posted in the general topics board, so we can’t tell what version you’re using.

You also don’t say what Operating system you’re using.

Have you just installed Avast, or has it been installed for a while?

What version is it? Ex. 5.1.863 or 4.8.1061, or what?

Have you tried a reboot?

It says I’m using Ver. 5.1889

I’ve rebooted several times…still the pop-up.

Alright, it may be more work than you’re willing to go through, but try a repair in the Add/Remove programs in control panel.

If that doesn’t work, try the uninstall utility in safe mode http://www.avast.com/uninstall-utility

then reboot, and re-install the latest avast.

Try a repair of avast. Add Remove programs, select ‘avast! Anti-Virus,’ click the Change/Remove button and scroll down to Repair, click next and follow. You may need to reboot after the repair. This has in the past resolved this out of sync issue between reported and actual VPS version.
