So obviously avast 5 is finally here 
But when i go to update program update, it still says i have the lastest version, and i really dont want to uninstall and then reinstall because i dont know what will happen with my registration key.
Is it just me that is having the issue? or is the automatic update not ready yet.

The same thing happened to me. Went to update program manually and it said it was up to date with version 4.
I want to ask one thing - if I update Avast this way (upgrade from 4.8 Home to 5.0 Free), will the installation program completely and properly remove 4.8 before installing 5.0?
When approximately can we expect that this kind of update will be possible?

It would be nice if the new Avast site would feature a note on the latest program and virus database version update, as before.

Best way is to have 4.8 Pro loaded with license and upgrade to 5 Pro.
It will not let you install 5 free over a 4.8 Pro install.
If you uninstall 4.8 it will not migrate.
5 Internet Security will NOT migrate registration info from 4.8 Pro as it is a different level of the product.
Otherwise there is a page you can have the license file sent to you with a valid pro key/email.
