Upgrade from 4.8 to newer version

Hi everybody,

I have a Windows 2008R2 server which is running avast 4.8. The license is valid til 2013.

My question is now: is the upgrade to the actual version free or would we have to pay for a new license?

Another point: installation was smooth and the server is working fine (suspicious in itself  ). Are there any known issues of this setup that I should be aware of?

Thanks for your help

If you have a valid license with time remaining it can be converted so it would work with the latest versions.

My only question is how you managed to get it to install on a server OS as it isn’t meant to as that would normally require the server version.

So as an avast user, I don’t know if this would work with the later versions.

Hi,

thanks for the quick and helpful answer.

I’m using the server version, of course. Maybe I should have mentioned that

Have a nice day

OK, I should also have noticed it was in the avast! Server Protection sub-forum.

I believe the same is correct if you have a valid license you should be able to convert it for the remainder of the period.

There is a convert link for the stand alone avast versions, but I don’t know if there is a similar one for the avast! server version. So I would suggest contacting sales (at) avast (dot) com about conversion of the license.
