Upgrade from Avast Pro 4.8 to Pro 6 has broken Google Calendar

I have a customer with two PCs. I upgraded them both from Avast Pro 4.8 to Avast Pro 6 (latest). This was accomplished by installing Avast 6 Pro over top of 4.8 and letting Avast do it’s thing.

The customer was running IE8 at the time and after upgrading to Avast 6, Google Calendar pages will no longer load and on one of the PCs, the program “You Send It Express” will not open. The problem with Google Calendar can be alleviated by upgrading to IE9, but “You Send It” still will not work.

Uninstalling Avast 6 (even with awsclear) has no effect on the problems. However, using System Restore to go back to before Avast 6.0 (which restored 4.8 but it was broken) allows Google Calendar in IE8 and You Send It to work just fine.

Any thoughts on this?

Thanks! ;D

Is it the google calendar sync which is the problem, rather than the display of the calendar in the igoogle page ?

I’m a bit confused as having uninstalled avast completely the problem still exists, avast doesn’t change any settings as such but would monitor, scan all HTTP activity. Plus the fact that it works on the other system is a bit confusing.

Did you also run aswclear.exe for avast 4.8 in safe mode ?
If not I would suggest doing that before a clean install of avast6.
