I need to upgrade my computer from Window 7 to Windows 10, but also need to replace the hard drive.
How do I reinstall by Avast Premium after I replace the hard drive and do the Windows 10 install?
I have an excellent recent experience of updating a Windows 7 64bit installation to Windows 10 using the 1909 Media Creator. The only problem I found was Intel Rapid Storage (RST) used on the hosting Sony Viao laptop which needed a search of Intel driver stores and installation of a release dated 2011. The Windows 10 updater failed to insert the proper version. Otherwise, I was amazed that the resulting Windows 10 worked so brilliantly, like a brand new system, and the bugs which had developed in the eight year life of the Windows 7 incarnation completely disappeared with the transformation to Windows 10. Apart from the Intel RST difficulty there was not a single issue and none at all after I sorted the Intel RST driver/software. I only became aware of the Intel RST issue when the SSD was not recognised as such and would not trim.
Avast 19.8.2393 Free works just great on the updated system. In the last year of the Windows 7 incarnation, Avast Web Shield proved to be a big problem, probably due to damage within Windows 7, and caused no end of trouble. This problem evaporated with the evolution into Windows 10.
Lots of things are better in Windows 10.
The problem is many people are afraid of change.
Don’t be. If you have a Windows 7 computer, upgrade it and stay safe.
