Just download and install. Old version is removed automatically.
I upgraded 4.8 to 5 and let the upgrade take place without uninstalling 4.8…no problems at all.
Right click on the Avast icon in the systray, and from the pop-up menu choose update>program update.
Let it do it’s thing, then reboot.
Well, I did "update’ a few time but still nothing. It says “Program: up to date (current version 4.8.1)” ???
One more thing I won’t need new product code?
Thx
You can download the free version installer from avast.com and just start it. It will update.
Thankx, will do! 8)
when i go to updating , program update , avast 4.8 tells me im up to date, why is that?
Because there is no direct update to 5.0 from avast 4.8 from the GUI, as it requires the download of the complete installation file for 5.0.
Many users can’t update to 5.0 from 4.8 because their OS doesn’t support it so when checking for updates from 4.8 it will be looking for 4.8 updates and 4.8.2368 being the latest, there are none. That is why goranilic was told (twice) to download the avast 5.0 installer.
i updated 4.8 to 5.0. (418 it was then) without any problems.
it also kept the license.
