How to send a suspicious file to Avast for analysis?
Looked here, in the stickys, searched, looked at the homepage…the nearest I could find was “virus report form”.
I’ve sent one in the past, but it sure isn’t easy to find the form. (Suggestion, there.) (Unless I’m being a thicko…it might be obvious. But not to me, today.)
Once I find it, I know how to send.
If you have it in the chest, you kan send it from there.
Otherwise, see this topic

Can you send the samples to virus@avast.com ?
You can use Alwil FTP server as a second way to transfer only big files. Upload them to ftp://ftp.avast.com/incoming (please, note that you won’t have READ access to the ftp server, just write - so you won’t even be able to see what you’ve just uploaded).
The preferred way for submitting samples is e-mail (or sending from Chest like Bluesman said).
Thank you. I used the email method; since it wasn’t detected by Avast it wasn’t in the chest.
Do you know where on the website, or this forum, that email address is? Or perhaps its in the Avast help/program files?
You can also add the file to the User Files (File, Add) section of the avast chest where it can do no harm and send it from there (select the file, right click, email to Alwil Software). No need to zip and PW protect when the sample is sent from chest.
With a copy in the chest you can monitor it (scan) the file periodically to see if it has been added.
