Upped my Avast subscription Lost 22 days of old subscription

Well Avast has been notifying me it was time to renew my Avast subscription because it was coming due so finally today I did so I could just get them to quit telling me all the time it was time to renew. I renewed for a year this time rather than 2 years I did in 2012. BUT now my renewal day is one year from today, what happened to the 22 days still on my old Avast subscription which I purchased 2 years ago, May 11, 2012? Shouldn’t my new subscription end on May 11, 2015 and not April 19, 2015? See below, I figured it out.

OK, I went and checked my previous purchase, what a bunch of crap, I notice at the bottom of my previous 2 year purchase that it activates to the day I renew but yet Avast keeps reminding us often we need to renew. Soooo, pretty slick marketing skills I’d say.

PLEASE NOTE PEOPLE, If you renew one day early, or 22 days early as I did, you lose 1-22 days of coverage. I’m pretty sure they started notifying me 30 days in advance so I just got tired of them reminding me constantly and decided to just get it over with and renew it. Pretty dang slick and I will definitely consider another software next year. This information that the date you renew your subscription is your NEW renewal date and is hidden toward the bottom of your confirmation letter they send you when you last purchased the software, heaven forbid they tell you this before you renew your license for another year.

Another route, not using the Support Ticket system:

  • There is an on-line contact form, http://www.avast.com/contact-form.php?loadStyles: use that to contact Sales,
Give as much information as possible, avast product ID, original expiry date, date renewed, renewal receipt/invoice number and email address used when renewing.

Thanks I just sent a note via the contact form.

You’re welcome.
