Hi!

The URL Blocking is independent of the browser you are using.
No you can’t avast isn’t designed in this way, there are far more effective ways to block multiple sites, through the HOSTS file or more commonly via your firewall.
Any particular reason why URL Block doesn’t work on Firefox 3 for me then?
It should work on FF 3.0 as avast’s web shield doesn’t really know or care what browser you are using (provided it is one of the supported browsers, which FF 3.0 is).
What is the url you are trying to block and what have you placed in the URL Blocking section ?
Note: there is obviously a reason to block a url so when you post it don’t create an active link, replace the tt with xx in the http part of the url.
I did a down and dirty test and entered .php which would block all .php pages if .php appears anywhere in the url. It works just fine with firefox 3.0.1, see image.
So we need to see what you are entering.
Hi Tom01,
There is another way to do this inside Fx 3.0. Install ABP add-on, and then install this add-on from here:
https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/1865
, then subscribe to the list given here below for users of ABP:

Ah Thanks a lot! It turns out my network settings still have the Privoxy HTTP proxy configuration filled which seemed to interrupt it.
No problem, glad I could help and your problem is resolved.
Welcome to the forums.
Which ones do you suggest most?
