URL:Mal Explorer.exe pop-up - please, help!

Hello,

For about two days, there has been this annoying Avast pop-up nearly each time I open my iexplore window. I’ve tried various anti-malware programs/registry cleaners and no sufficient results at all!

Object: 173.45.84.10/
Infection: URL:Mal
Action: Blocked
Process: C:\Windows\Explorer.exe

I am unable to use my system restore tool. No infections found via Malwarebytes. Rogue Killer always indicates explorer.exe - wsse.dll problem, but my PC stops working after fixing it.

Can you help me, please?

Thank you in advance.

follow the guide here and attach the logs…not copy and paste

Everything seems to be fine, so I hope it won’t exacerbate again.

If all is well tomorrow let me know and I will remove my tools

Hello,

everything seems to be fine so far, so I suppose the problem has been solved. Many thanks!!!

Subject to no further problems

I will remove my tools now and give some recommendations, but, I would like you to run for 24 hours or so and come back if you have any problems

Now the best part of the day ----- Your log now appears clean

A good workman always cleans up after himself so…The following will implement some cleanup procedures as well as reset System Restore points:

Delete aswMBR from the desktop

Run AdwCleaner and select uninstall

Run OTL and hit the cleanup button. It will remove all the programmes we have used plus itself.

We will now confirm that your hidden files are set to that, as some of the tools I use will change that
[*]Click Start.
[*]Open My Computer.
[*]Select the Tools menu and click Folder Options.
[*]Select the View Tab.
[*]Under the Hidden files and folders heading select Do not show hidden files and folders.
[]Click Yes to confirm.
[
]Click OK.

[*]Microsoft Windows Update

Done, thank you.

However, my “hidden files and folders” are still visible, even whene they should have not been (appdata, various system files etc.). Selecting “Do not show hidden files and folders” in my control panels in Win7 doesn’t seen to help, any advices, please?

Anyway, many thanks for your “cleanup” protocol!

Silly question did you press apply ?

Sure, I’ve even tried reset do defaults, a few restarts and still nothing.

These ntuser.dat files and appdata should definitely be hidden.

Could you download and run the following two batch files from this page http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/394-hidden-files-folders-show-hide.html

Don’t_show_hidden_files_folders_and_drives.bat

Hide_protected_operating_system_files.bat

Run both batch files and let me know if it works

Unfortunately, no, it doesn’t work. But it is OK, I don’t mind visible folders/files intended to be hidden, the key problem with annoying pop-up has been solved and that’s what counts!

Once again many thanks!

I will see if I can find a resolution for this ;D
