URL:Mal Infection

I continue to get numerous alerts from Avast in regards to an Infection: URL:Mal that it stops. How can I get this fixed?

I downloaded Spybot- but it freezes about everytime I try and run it. I also noticed that my computer(programs) is starting to “Not Respond” a lot and it is very annoying with hard shutdown done several times to get things or programs to shutdown when I cannot get them to do it from task manager.

Might be a bug if it keeps coming up or if you opened lots of tabs, they can be viruses on the websites

I am not getting any BSOD with this just the flags (Malicious URL Blocked) everytime I start the computer and throughout use. I have done several boot scans and the last few have resulted with nothing found.

Just noticed that I get an sound of and on when I am not even doing anything…

FINALLY

Do the following:
StartRun
type diskmgmt.msc
Click “OK

Disk Management will open.

Click and hold the right side of the Disk Management Window and drag it to the right until you can see all the columns.

Take a screen Shot of the Disk Management Window and attach the screen shot to your reply.

Still not totally happy about the MBR on drive 1

Download the latest version of TDSSKiller from here and save it to your Desktop.

[*]Doubleclick on TDSSKiller.exe to run the application, then click on Change parameters.

I will remove my tools now and give some recommendations, but, I would like you to run for 24 hours or so and come back if you have any problems

Now the best part of the day ----- Your log now appears clean :thumbsup:

A good workman always cleans up after himself so…The following will implement some cleanup procedures as well as reset System Restore points:

Run OTL
[*]Under the Custom Scans/Fixes box at the bottom, paste in the following

:Commands [resethosts] [emptytemp] [CLEARALLRESTOREPOINTS] [Reboot]

[*]Then click the Run Fix button at the top
[*]Let the program run unhindered, reboot the PC when it is done

Run OTL and hit the cleanup button. It will remove all the programmes we have used plus itself.

We will now confirm that your hidden files are set to that, as some of the tools I use will change that
[*]Click Start.
[*]Open My Computer.
[*]Select the Tools menu and click Folder Options.
[*]Select the View Tab.
[*]Under the Hidden files and folders heading select Do not show hidden files and folders.
[]Click Yes to confirm.
[
]Click OK.

Thanks, essexboy. I was having an identical problem. After trying a few other tools (Malwarebytes & Norton Power Eraser), TDSSKiller was exactly what I needed! You brought a couple of hours of frustration to a pleasant end.

No problem - is the system OK now or would you like me to look for remnants ?

I think I am having the same problem as the original poster, however all of the scans I’ve run come up clean. I’ve even done boot scans and nothing has come up. I think I’ve attached all the required logs. Should I go ahead and download that TDSSKiller and try that?
