URL:Mal & Other Popups

Try with disabling New XKit extension in CHrome. If it doesn’t solve problem, then disable other extensions one by one until you found culprit.

I’ll disable it, but… I really do need it. Would it be alright for me to try to look for a different version of xKit? As I did say, I had these notifications from other sites even with the default version of Chrome without any added extensions, except the Google ones already installed on it ( Drive, Documents, ect. ). I do not know how long it will take, too, for another blocked site notification to pop up; it’s taken weeks sometimes without me seeing anything and then suddenly I do. I’m also wondering, how would this fix the problem? Or is this just isolating a possible place the problem is coming from?

This is just isolating a possible place from where the problem is coming from.

Alright. I’ll give it a few days, and check back in on how everything is doing then.

Had another message popup. I wasn’t browsing as before.

Out of curiosity, too, how would any of my extensions be the problem? I did say a few times that I still got these notifications even with a fresh install of Chrome and only the default Chrome extensions on my browser, and nothing else downloaded but AVG and Chrome, from a clean installation of Windows 10.

Then are ads on websites you visit are problem.

I’ve said this several times now; I’ve had this popup happen to me after downloading AVG, and then Google Chrome, only visiting the AVG and Chrome websites themselves, directly after a fresh install of Windows 10 and not visiting any other sites but the two, and still getting a notification. This was happening before and after I formatted my computer with that fresh install.

I have had this pop up when I am not internet browsing, but still have tabs open. I am not changing any of my pages. I still get these notifications that are attempting to do connections to other websites. I have only been to maybe one or two of the websites that these notifications have popped up for.

I do have an adblocker on, yes - uBlock Origin since AdBlock Plus sells your data and is known to allow ads through their program - but is this not blocking all ads then? How can it be ads when I haven’t had Chrome open sometimes ( which is very rare for me ) but it STILL pops up? I’ve gone through several fresh installs of Chrome and it still happens, too. Some of them have even said it’s coming from SKYPE, but I managed to block IP addresses and those stopped.

Just got another notification, but this time I WAS browsing; the official Blizzard forums, which I doubt is causing this. This issue has been happening for months now, is my computer just screwed?

Do you have any other PC/laptop connected to same router and if you do does they have same problem?

No, there’s only my computer that’s getting these connections. We have a few phones and a single tablet on wifi in addition to my computer connected to our internet, but none of them are getting these notifications. My computer is directly hooked up to our modem with an ethernet cable, and my computer is not able to go wireless. My Xbox One is also directly hooked up with a cable as well, but I only use that at night to watch movies to go to sleep to, it doesn’t even always connect to the internet.

Try resetting the router to the factory, see how to do it on your router.

Let’s try this.

Visit this URL in Chrome:

chrome://serviceworker-internals/

It will show you service workers in your browser and use option Unregister for all of them.

I’m not gonna try to reset my router just yet, but I have unregistered everything I can. There’s still one left with YouTube that has no option whatsoever to remove it.

Since these are just in my appdata folder, how would this change anything? If these are put in there just based on what sites you have gone to, and I still got the popup notifications after only visiting three websites ( the AVG site, Google search and the Chrome download site ), how would this be the issue? I’m not trying to say it’s not, I’m just wondering.

Strange. Now only thing reset router settings remains.

Try Firefox and other browsers and check does they have same problem.

I’m not actually sure how to reset my router to factory settings; I’ve waited to reply to this to see if the unregistering did anything. So far, I have not gotten any message notifications from Avast saying that it detected or blocked anything. While this is a good thing, I am still extremely worried on what was happening.

I'm not actually sure how to reset my router to factory settings;
google or youtube has the answer ;)

I wasn’t able to reply for some time, but since then I have had several message notifications from Avast despite having the Chrome settings being unregistered. I wasn’t able to actually change my router settings until today, too; they are back to factory default and I have had my WiFi information changed.

Now I just have to wait and see what happens. I have been visiting several sites that I think are causing me problems less and less lately, too, and that might have had an effect on how often I’m getting the notifications; I’ve maybe had up to five since my last reply on my thread here.

I also cleared out everything using CC Cleaner last night and cleared my browsing history/cookies/cache/ect. in Chrome last night, so we’ll see how it goes.

I still would rather not have to switch to using FireFox. I don’t know how to use that browser at all, so I don’t know if I’d be able to get a couple of extensions there I use on Chrome or not.
