URL:MAL warning from avast

For the past few days I have been getting a lot of url:mal popups for a bunch of different urls and they say the are from C:\windows\explorer.exe

Also I have noticed windows explorer is ALOT slower then it was before I got these avast messages. Changing directorys and saving files etc is slow. like its lagging before it begins to save a file, even adding these attachments to this post there was a 5second delay before they were each added in the attach box.

Something is slowing the computer down and I hope your able to find out what!

Hi Jason S,

Welcome to the forums.

Hi did you install this programme C:\Program Files (x86)\Putty

CAUTION : This fix is only valid for this specific machine, using it on another may break your computer

Open notepad and copy/paste the text in the quotebox below into it:

HKU\S-1-5-21-697398025-2851707334-1192148227-1000\...\Run: [AdobeBridge] => [X] Task: {71099B33-8124-423B-8B60-0727229ECFC0} - \{DC19BE08-FFCC-4021-A9AA-E8F6612B7A3B} No Task File <==== ATTENTION HKU\S-1-5-21-697398025-2851707334-1192148227-1000\Software\Classes\.exe: => <===== ATTENTION! EmptyTemp: CMD: bitsadmin /reset /allusers

Save this as fixlist.txt, in the same location as FRST.exe
Run FRST and press Fix
On completion a log will be generated please post that

THEN

Download to your desktop process explorer from here http://technet.microsoft.com/en-gb/sysinternals/bb896653.aspx
Open process explorer and from the menu bar select View > Lower Pane
Select Explorer.exe
A Lower window will open
Then on the menu bar go to File > Save as…
Then select the desktop and click save
On the desktop will then be a text file called explorer please attach that
You may need to edit the file name from explorer.exe.txt to explorer.txt to allow it to be attached

I did install putty a while back

Im still getting the avast popups…and explorer is still acting slow

I have attached the logs.

Could you restore your computer back to this point please

24-10-2014 12:52:36 Windows Update

I did a system restore but it said it failed…

but the good news is that it fixed my problems anyways. windows explorer is working at normal speed again and no more popups from avast so far

Grand, I do not know why that works but it does. Which makes this miscreant even more intriguing

Let me know tomorrow if all is well and I will tidy up
