I am also having this problem on two separate computers. It presents like adware/survey/polling sites trying to phone home but about 8 or 9 of them do it one right after the other. I’m glad avast is catching it but man, is it annoying. The required logs are attached. I hope one of the experts can help… Thanks in advance.
Could you let me know if this stops it

Thank you. Here’s the log. But it is still doing it… 9 harmful websites as soon as the computer rebooted.
Could I have a screenshot of the avast popup please
Here’s one of them. There are several. They seem to be the same except for the URL.
Some of the other URL’s: mansurvey.net; lycosurvey.net; chosurvey.net; pollinois.net and stetsurvey.net. There are more but they disappear so quickly
OK you have a lot of Firefox addons and any one can be subverted… So first could you start firefox in safe mode and let me know if you still get the alerts
https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/troubleshoot-firefox-issues-using-safe-mode
So far, so good. I presume i need to completely wipe my Firefox install including profile and start over? Fortunately, I have a full backup from before this started happening.
Yes as they find a lot of little hidey holes so a clean install of FF would be recommended
So far so good. Haven’t had a popup warning in hours.
Thank you for all the help.

: Keep Java Updated :
WARNING: Java is the #1 exploited program at this time. The Department of Homeland Security recommends that computer users disable Java
See this article
I would recommend that you completely uninstall Java unless you need it to run an important software.
In that instance I would recommend that you disable Java in your browsers until you need it for that software and then enable it. (See How to diasble Java in your web browser and How to unplug Java from the browser)
If you do need to keep Java then download JavaRa
Run the programme and select Remove Java Runtime. Uninstall all versions of Java present
Once done then run it again and select Update Java runtime > Download and install Latest version
