URL Malware

Hello, I have modified this post to include the info asked for.

  1. Detected by background scanner, WebShield,
    pops up a lot.
  2. Unknown Source
  3. Unkown download time
  4. Object: https://svadxvbtuc8c.com
    Infection: URL:Mal
    Process: C:\Windows\explorer.exe

Avast popup is the first pic pic.
I then ran combofix as described in post at
https://forum.avast.com/index.php?topic=157903.0
I attached the log.
The second pic is a popup from malwarebytes that started
after the re-boot.
The avast is still detecting the website trying to be accessed also.

Started over with Malwarebytes, nothing detected.
attaching the Log and then I will get Farbar and continue with the instuctions.

The link for the Farbar tool only opens a blank page for me.
Is the malware causing that? cant get to download.cnet.com either.

I switched from IE to Chrome browser and I can now get Farbar.

I downloaded Farbar 64 bit for my 64 bit system and it gives an error
that it is not a valid win32 application.

I tried the 32bit version and error says nor for my OS.
I used Run as administrator. any ideas why it wont run?
It is saved to desktop.

I tried system restore , only two to choose from.
Both failed, Ran chkdsk suggested by the system restore.
Tried to restore again , still fail.

I can not get Farbar to run.
I have a 64 bit system and downloaded the 64 bit version.
Ran as administrator, I get an error that FRST64.exe is not a valid win32 application.
Is anyone else with the URL Malware popup problem not able to run FRST64.exe ?

Hi Trops,

Who told you to run ComboFix? You should read these noteses:
http://www.techsupportforum.com/1829551-post6.html

Please download Zoek tool by Smeenk (
http://www.mcshield.net/personal/magna86/Images/Zoek_icon.png
) from here and save it to your Desktop.
Unpack the archive…

[*]Close any open browsers and temporarily disable your AntiVirus program. (if it is necessary)
If you are unsure how to do this please read this or this Instruction.

[*]Double click on zoek.exe to run the tool. Please wait while the tool does not start…
[*]Copy the text present inside the code box below and paste it into the large window in the zoek tool:

StandardSearch;

[*] Click on
http://www.mcshield.net/personal/magna86/Images/Run%20Script%20by%20zoek.png
button.
Please wait until a logreport will open (this can be after reboot)

[*]Save notepad to your Desktop and attach here zoek-results.log
Note: It will also create a log in the C:\ directory named “zoek-results.log

I ran combo fix because when the problem first appeared I searched the forums
for others that might have the same problem. The first I found was at
https://forum.avast.com/index.php?topic=157903.0

The original poster and others reporting the same problem,
and none of them posted any log files. The first advice given
was to run combofix. There was nothing in that post about
it being machine specific.
That’s what went thru my mind at the time. ::slight_smile:

Sorry to be so dense but I followed your links, is the pc toast or are you
telling me to download mbr.exe ?

I am trying to restore a backup I have on 2 DVDs.

Follow instructions given by magna86

sorry I have not replied/updated what happened.
I decided to format the drive and reinstall win7 from
the original dvd.
Everything has been going fine until yesterday I tried
to burn a dvd, none of the software I used could
actually burn the dvd.
I also get pop up error about in Internet Explorer, I just hit cancel
and the page loads.

So I think my machine is not clean.
Please let me know what software to download and run
and any log files that would be required.
