We have been using Deep Freeze on our students netbook. It locks all files, which means when it is rebooted, it goes back to original profile. The problem is that habits that expose our child to viruses aren’t seen until it is too late. We can “unfreeze” the drive image and install Avast! but it won’t be updated unless we go through the unfreeze/update/refreeze process. Can Avast! program and files be installed/stored on the “thawed” space, “T” Drive (that isn’t reverted when rebooted)?
Hi, I’ve never used deep freeze but seems you may need an add on to the program.
Data Igloo allows users to retain vital data across restarts on a Frozen workstation. Since this data is stored in a Thawed partition, the operating system is still on a Frozen partition and remains fully protected. Retained data can include, user created files, documents, settings, favorites, AV Updates or even entire user profiles. You also have the option to migrate security permissions for profiles or folders, if desired.
See here:http://www.faronics.com/en/Products/DataIgloo.aspx I think it’s free.
Hope this helps.
