User Interface small window

I have Avast Free Antivirus on Windows 10 22H2. Sometimes the user interface opens as a small window which cannot be enlarged or resized. I’ve tried a repair without success.

I have the same problem on Win11 .
Impossible to use the interface , like this .

A screenshot attached .
I have a 4K screen .

Right-click on the Avast icon.
Go to properties.
Under execute you can customize the window

Let’s hope it solves your problem with the Avast UI

Thanks Luukjr .
When I click on the icon - doesn’t give me properties - see attached .

I can only assume that Luukjr is talking about the Avast Desktop Icon, Properties.

Thanks DavidR . Did manage to get to Properties - but couldn’t find what Luukjr mentions .

Well I don’t know what windows version you are using, I’m using Windows 10 and have the same screen, but just check the other tabs and look at the Compatibility tab and you will see some options that may help with your issue.

See attached screenshot.

Edit, I use a 1080p laptop and attached 27" 1440P QHD monitor and I haven’t had any scaling issues (or need to change any settings).

Thanks DavidR for that - I have Win11 .
I will try to adjust those settings .
Is there some switch , which can be added to the command line to set the window size ?

DavidR - I did try to play around with those settings - without success , and I put them back as they were .
But get this - just did a Restart - and presto the window has a normal size again .
I thought , an update might have been done automatically - don’t know what else could have happened .

Any change in those settings I would guess would require a restart to come into effect.

I have no idea if it is/was related to a program update, if it were I would have expected many more topics/posts on the subject. However, why this would happen at all after working fine previously is beyond me.

Since I’m active in the forums (by not an Avast Team member) I see notifications of new Program update releases, I have program updates set to manual. I look at what has changed, does it impact how I work and use Avast and should I update then. Sometimes I don’t, such as in this case.

Yes DavidR - good advice .
I have mine set at “Remind me when an update is available” , but I suspect this doesn’t work 100% ,
and sometimes Avast does do the update automatically .
Manual doesn’t have this problem ?

My setting is set to remind me when there is an update available and it’s always worked.
Remember that some things can be updated via the Virus definition updates and there are also emergency updates.

Thanks bob3160 - I understand .
Thanks to you too , DavidR for all your help .

You’re welcome.
