Using Avast! 4 Free Home for...

Hi everyone :slight_smile:

Today I downloaded, installed and started using Avast! 4 Free Home edition for the first time ;D

I’ve got two questions, please:

  1. When using MSN Messenger, I have an option of using an antivirus for scanning files (Tools → Options → Messages → File Transfer → “Scan files for viruses using:”). When choosing the .exe file to do this, which one do I choose?

  2. How resource consuming is Avast! 4 compared to AVG and NAV2004?

  1. C:\Program Files\Alwil Software\Avast4\ashQuick.exe

  2. My opinion, AVG (used this pre avast), for my usage slightly less resources than AVG - Norton NAV 2004, no contest, post on these forums atest to the fact that NAV is a resource hog, bloatware and a real pig to get rid of when you try to uninstall it.

Don’t even think about Norton nor McAfee if you’re worry about resource usage! >:( :wink:

Besides, Avast! is so much better than either of those bloat-ware programs. I know … I used both of those before finding avast! :slight_smile:

AVG < Avast! < Norton (in resource usage). When I was using Mcafee though, I’d say it’s about the same as Avast!
