No real reason not to, I suppose, some users do just that. I suspect, however, that you’ll run into a lot more “unable to scan because in use” cases that way.
With both caching options ticked, a full system scan of around 9 gigs (including the default set of archive-types) takes me only about 8-9 minutes. So there’s no reason I can’t find something else (off-computer) to do while it’s scanning.
