Using Gmail, Yahoo mail and my own domain email with Becky v2

Hi
I use Gmail, Yahoo mail and my own domain email with Becky v2.
Since Avast default mailer is Outlook/Exchange, I need to change mail setting.
Then I searched this helpful page http://kenkoudaa.sakura.ne.jp/page018.html

I added a Gmail’s server setting in avast4.ini file

[MailScanner]
DefaultPopServer=pop.gmail.com
DefaultSmtpSever=smtp.gmail.com

and then changed mailbox profiles for Becky

Pop Server: 127.0.0.1
Smtp Sever: 127.0.0.1
User ID: myGmailUserID#pop.gmail.com

But Becky returns server errors that may be wrong server settings.

Also I would like to add more email accounts (Yahoo mail and my own domain).
But I have no idea where, what and how to setup… ???
Can anyone help me please???

Thanks :wink:

Which is your operational system?
avast scanning is transparent in XP and you don’t have to change anything. Although, to scan SSL email you need to use Stunnel (http://forum.avast.com/index.php?topic=10428.0). To ATT Yahoo SSL mail see: http://forum.avast.com/index.php?topic=14854.msg238394#msg238394.

The default pop/smtp servers are used only by avast itself (to send files from Chest to analysis, for instance).

Hi Tech™

Thank you for the reply… I use XP.

Ok then, now all I need to do is to follow the instructions you gave me.
However I can receive/send Gmail account emails without that settings now… I wonder why ???

I installed OpenSSL and Stunnel, then did stunnel.conf, and then changed the setting for both Avast and Becky following the instruction at http://forum.avast.com/index.php?topic=14854.msg238394#msg238394 and it works!

Thank you Tech™ :slight_smile: :slight_smile: :slight_smile:

Stunnel now includes OpenSSL and does not require a separate installation. Anyway, glad you finally has your email being scanned by avast.
