Using my Avast Pro License after installing a new ssd

I decided to throw out my old hdd and use an ssd instead. I installed Windows 8, but now I cant use my avast pro license, because the program thinks this is a new pc. Its the same pc with the same windows license with the same account, but the pro license seems to be tied to my old hdd. How can I use my pro license?

The program shouldn’t care if it is a new PC, avast can be installed multiple times, provided you don’t exceed the number of PCs the license covers. That allows for replacement PCs, etc. you only have it installed on the one PC.

If you did a clean OS installation on the SSD and then installed your programs there shouldn’t be any relationship with the old installation.

Did you start like the above or did you clone your old HDD on to the new SSD ?

I only have one license for one PC and I did go for a clean new install since most cloning tools tend to become buggy and clumsy. Is there a way for me to re-assign my license? I just bought my license and it would be a pain if I could no longer use it.

If it were a clean OS and program install there should be no reference to the previous installation.

That said, open your my.avast.com account and look for the old device which may still have a reference to the license. Delete that device, hopefully that will break the linkage to the old installation.
