Hi, I have been using Avast on my desktop without any issues for the past year, so at renewal time, I upgraded to a 3 PC license to cover my laptop as well.
The email link downloaded v 7.0.1407 and, after activating the license, I can no longer access the internet (unless I deactivate Web Shield). Even with Web Shield off I cannot update to the latest version.
Can anyone help to resolve this issue?
My laptop is running the 64 bit version of Windows 7.
Today I had major problems with Avast and I think the updates for the past week have caused my issues too. A couple of days ago I lost ownership of all my files. I credited a windows update for that problem, but now I wonder if it was a Avast update instead because of today’s problems. I went online and no problems until safezone started popping up over and over. I made a couple of changes in the options on Avast looking for a solution. I then restarted my computer. No way was it going to let me back online, no matter what I tried. I finally gave up and did a restore to about a week ago. Now my system is working perfectly again. If the Avast updates are causing me this much trouble, I will uninstall it ASAP and switch to another virus protection program. (yes, I am a paying customer, not using “FREE”) I have 2 years of another program to use and if this problem still exists after the next update, it is bye bye Avast.
with this last update i also have lost IE connectivity. it only works if i disable WebShield. I have tried all other fixes that were given in other threads and none work.
I also tried the below and still didnt work.
3 fresh installs and still avast webshield prevents my IE from working unless disabled.
I have;
windows 7 Pro 64 bit
Emsisoft Online armor (free)
avast free
I dotn have any other Av software except malwarebytes but that doesnt interfere with avast or any other av product.
EDIT: I didnt do Step 1, as i didnt want to pay for AIS, instead i downloaded the free version
I didnt see any option to do this on my firewall. Dont think it would be an issue, as Avast has always worked with this firewall. After this last update, is the first tiem i have seen this problem.
Your edit above was too late, as you answered to an IS issue.
Anyway, if you want to dig deeper, please open a new topic, as you’re hijacking the OP’s thread. Thanks.
I just got around installing avast free v. 7.01.1426 ( version just before this last update) and everything works fine. I’m going to stick with that version until a new update comes around.
