Why do i need to get spammed with a popup every hour or so, just to tell me about some valentine deal… If i was thinking about purchasing a subscription, then i’m not any more. I thought the idea was to protect people from popups and spam, not throw it at them.
In the free version, you can lessen the popups but you can’t avoid them.
You’re getting excellent protection for free, an occasional popup is easily overlooked or,
click the little x and close it.
You are wrong.
avast free is for detecting/removing malware, it is not a pop-up killer or a spam filter.
About the promotion…
You get what you paid for.
In the paid versions you can disable avast’s pop-ups.
But it’s not an occasional popup.
I’ve gotten three popups about a season deal within 3 hours, that’s simply to much!
I have a payed Avast at home, but at this machine I’m using the free version, which is great and I get nothing comes 100% free, but a popup every hour is to much.
Are you constantly shutting down your system rather than put it in sleep, etc. ?
As I can’t recall when I last saw this popup, I leave my system on all day only shutting it down at night. I don’t know if that has an effect.
I dont think anyone is getting them every hour on a normal basis. Should be a couple of times a day and no more. Sounds to me like something is corrupt in your system. These popups coincide with you receiving definition updates so possibly your definitions are not completely updating?
Nope, the computer was turned on all the time and received updates fine. But no popups today, I guess the “deal” is over. I’ll keep my eye on it.
Maybe the Avast Team could implement a simple timer so that no user is provided with any advertisements or promotions more than once in a predetermined period.
I ignore any Avast promos that popup frequently. If I get an Avast promo popup once every few months, I might read it and consider it. More frequent than that, I just ignore it.
