VB100 - April 08

Hi all (especially Vlk),

i just read the VB100 Results Overview for April 08 (platform: vista SP1 business edition).
It states that Alwil failed the test with 19 wildlist misses, 1 false positive.

I don’t know what the Avast’s version used by VB100 during the test.
“19 wildlist misses” is quite a lot in term of misses.

As i’m now using Avast 4.8.1169, I need an advice regarding the report.
(NOTE: I still can not update via proxy server, and also tried to update to 4.8.1178 but with no avail either).

Any comforting comment would be really appreaciated ;D

P.S. I still prefer Avast to others due to its good features, amid the VB100 report 8)

VB100 april? isn’t rather the VB100 march?

Sorry, I didn’t know this subject had been posted before, I missed that one.

Thanks for the reply, “onlysomeone”

So, does it mean we, as the Avast! users, still feel ‘safe’ to use Avast regarding the VB100 report?

I would feel really ‘safe’ if Vlk (or any Avast evangelists) could give a comfortable explanations on this ‘issue’.

really, I just need to make sure that the Avast! 4.8.1169 I’m using right now could protect me from viruses / malwares in the wild.

Still proud to be avast! user ;D

the proper Win32:Mabezat [Wrm] detection was released immediately when we got the information, which worm was the reason of VB100 failure…

Thanks for the reply, Maxx.

This is one of the reasons why I like Avast! so much.
The tech support forum really hears and responses quickly to its users’ inquiry

Keep the good job 8)

One more thing (sorry for asking too much ;D), you stated only worm that caused Avast! failed the VB100 test, while VB100 website stated that there’re 19 wildlist misses.
Why is that?

All of them were samples of the same virus.

Ic… just the variants from the same virus/worm.
Thanks for the confirmation.

Hopefully, Avast will pass the next VB100 test

Good job 8)
