I recently ran a full system scan using Avast, and it came back telling me that a virus had been found.
It was found in:
C:\Windows\System32\config\SOFTWARE.LOG2
And has been labelled as:
Threat:VBS:Banker-EA[Trj]
The file has been unable to be moved to the virus chest or deleted because, as I’ve seen, it is being used. After many unsuccessful attempts of using programs to delete the file during a reboot, I’ve decided to come here for help. I’ve attached the requested files, please let me know if anything else is needed.
Run FRST and press Fix
On completion a log will be generated please post that
THEN
Please download AdwCleaner by Xplode onto your desktop.
[*]Close all open programs and internet browsers.
[*]Double click on AdwCleaner.exe to run the tool.
[*]Click on Scan.
[*]After the scan is complete click on “Clean”
[*]Confirm each time with Ok.
[*]Your computer will be rebooted automatically. A text file will open after the restart.
[*]Please post the content of that logfile with your next answer.
[*]You can find the logfile at C:\AdwCleaner[S0].txt as well.
Alright, have ran both FRST and AdwCleaner. You should find both of the log files attached.
For AdwCleaner, the saved file was titled “AdwCleaner[C1]” not “AdwCleaner[S0]”. It also saved a few other .txt files, titled “AdwCleaner[S1]”, “AdwCleaner[S2]” and “Quarantine”. I will attach those as well in another post if you need them.
