VBS Banker Virus please help

After scanning my computer I received several alerts that I
have the VBS Banker Virus. The problem is that the virus is in
my Aol Organize and PC filing cabinet. After I put the files in the chest all my favorite places and mail information was missing.

I had to restore the files to get my Aol to function again.

My question is there a way to repair these files rather than put them in the chest? I have tried to look up exactly what kind of virus this is, but I haven’t been very successful in finding an answer. I don’t understand how these files even became infected.

When you create a favorites in Aol all you are doing is craeting a link to a website. Does anyone have any suggestions or any help they can provide?

Thank You So Much

Hello lbcamera,

Here is what the virus does: http://www.symantec.com/avcenter/venc/data/vbs.sorpe.b@mm.html
So if you have a restoring point to some point when you weren’t infected to restore to, well in that case I am afraid what you have done is the only option left for you. This is another pointer to the importance of making back-ups. What you could do for the future is make a partition, so you have for instance your system files in C, and others on D. Use a separate link saving program for your favorites, and store these data on a separate partion (could be a pendrive etc.).
Prevention is the best policy.
